Gomez & Co. subsequently established a relationship with Grant Thornton International as a Correspondent Firm in 1991, and in 2002 the Firm changed its name to Grant Thornton Bahamas when it became a full member Firm of Grant Thornton International Limited.

Boards and Associations

In 2015, upon his appointment as The Bahamas’ Ambassador to The People’s Republic of China, Andy took leave from Grant Thornton Bahamas and presented his credentials to China’s President, His Excellency Xi Jingping on February 29, 2016. He strengthened diplomatic relations between The Bahamas and the People’s Republic, and actively sought business relationships for The Bahamas and for Bahamian companies. Andy also served as non-resident Ambassador to Australia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka and The Philippines. A change in the Government of The Bahamas ended Andy’s diplomatic service and in July 2017 he returned to The Bahamas and continued with the Firm as Chairman.

Andy also serves as chairman of several privately owned companies, and has served on the boards of a few prominent Government corporations.

Social Responsibility

Andy believes that it is very important for business and corporate entities to be socially responsible, and in recent times Andy and his Family, along with Grant Thornton Bahamas, have supported many social causes, including the Ministry of Social Services’ “National Hotline”, Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids Foundation) and others.
